Rick Sherman views his work as "functional art." Waves, geometric and fluid free-form shapes, as well as wooden spheres often appear as elements in his work. He also uses a variety of exotic and native hardwoods to achieve beautiful contrasts that accentuate the shapes within each piece. Having been introduced to woodworking in a traditional fashion through his father, Rick has built upon the skills he inherited to realize a much more contemporary and intriguing form of art.
