Jon Michael Route has been a professional studio metalsmith since 1985. He currently maintains his studio in the wooded countryside of northwestern Wisconsin. “I have been in love with metal and metalsmithing for over 25 years. Many years after becoming a jeweler working in silver, platinum and karat golds, I established my own studio and returned to working with pewter. My main focus has been on producing hollowware designs. Pewter is a wonderfully soft, warm and functional material, and I enjoy trying to bring it out of the 18th century.”
