Jane Barthelemy of Marco Polo Designs grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts and studied music at Indiana University. Jane says, "I'm an idealist. I love meditation and lived in an Ashram for twenty five years. I studied opera in New York City, won several contests and moved to Italy to sing as a primadonna in Italian opera theaters. While living in Venice, I fell in love with glass and learned to make handmade lampwork glass beads. I loved to create colorful beaded jewelry for my performances on stage and learned about another side of life. In 1993, I retired to the lovely state of Oregon, where the air is clean and natural beauty is everywhere. Now I find beauty and inspiration in my glass creations, which I am delighted to share with you." |
