New York jewelry artist, Bess Heitner, mixes dramatic tones and textures as well as unique combinations of colors and materials to create distinctive wearable artwork. Her handcrafted jewelry features luminous pearls, exotic gems and minerals from around the world and custom clasps handcrafted from unusual objects or gems set in precious metals. After photographing her work, well-known photographer and columnist Steve Meltzer commented, "You are a very talented jeweler. I shoot tons of jewelry and lots of beads but few artists create the kind of big, exciting pieces you make. I like the bulk of the pieces and their sense of presence.
