"To me, painting is a process of layers. There are layers of oils, oil stick and sometimes acrylic drip used as an accent which I constantly push and pull like a tug of war. Working over an old painting can be interesting too. Like a photograph that was taken in one place and time, I then add to it by painting over another image that gives it new life. My style is expressionistic figurative work which ventures into the abstract. I like creating new colors and discovering unexpected color relationships. Chagall, Picasso, Diebenkorn and DeKooning are inspirations to me and their imagery and colors have always affected my work."
